Spitfire NH341 was assigned to the Royal Canadian Air Force’s No. 411 “Grizzly Bear” Squadron, part of the RAF’s 2nd Tactical Air Force during WWII. Flight Lieutenant Bruce Whiteford first flew NH341 on June 12, 1944, and flew it more than any other pilot. The aircraft bore the markings "EO" and the name "Elizabeth," which were the initials and name of Whiteford's wife.
